India is in my blood - I have been travelling there regularly for over 25 years. The people, the Goddess, the colour, the food, the sparkles everywhere, the smells, the devotion, the chatter of monkeys, the chaos, the tuk tuk horns, the cow poo on paths, the hot steaming chai, the singing in temples, the orange sun, the immense history, the silence. It’s a country of contrasts the won my heart and soul long ago, and one of my great passions is introducing others to India to share that love! Someone told me many years ago that you will laugh every single day that you are in India, and that has proved to be so correct to me. It fills my heart with joy. It is also somewhere that will encourage you to surrender. Plans can go wrong, transport can be challenging, it can be really hot and steamy, and you can occasionally have a funny belly – but it’s all ok. It’s all part of the Divine play that is India.
I love nothing more than soaking up the energy, history and mysticism in ancient temples. The timeless rituals that connect you to something far greater than you. I have a special connection to the Divine Feminine – to Goddesses, having been initiated into the tantric lineages of Durgā’s sadhana – the path of her scripture – the Devīmāhātmyam. This is my life.
India has also been my greatest influence in my yoga teaching and where I first practiced yoga over 25 years ago. The focus on pranayama and meditation captured my attention the first time I practiced by the banks of the Ganges River. Since then, I have been lucky to have trained with some of the best yoga teachers in India, the US, and Canada and immersed myself in my passion - yoga philosophy and the history and tradition of yoga. I always encourage people to understand the broader meaning of yoga, to see that yoga practice is wide and varied – chanting in temples, finding quietness with your mala beads, devotion rituals, ancient wisdom, meditative walks, deep belly laughs, even experiencing the beauty of a flower. Expect your ideas of yoga to be challenged with me!
Travelling with me to India allows you to experience the real India - not a tourist version! You get the benefit of leveraging from my extensive networks and experience in travelling within India. I so look forward to sharing my love of India and my love of Durgā with you. Jai Mā.
